Emergency Cardiac and Stroke Care

Our Emergency Department is staffed by physicians and nurses experienced in diagnosing and treating heart conditions — with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and other medical specialists on call. San Ramon Regional is a STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) Receiving Center for Contra Costa County. A STEMI is a high-risk heart attack in which the heart muscle begins to die. The condition can be reversed with specialized cardiac procedures ideally given within 90 to 120 minutes of the patient’s first sign of chest pain.

San Ramon Regional is also certified as a Primary Stroke Center by The Joint Commission and has earned its Gold Seal of Approval. Part of the Contra Costa County Stroke System, launched in 2012, our Emergency Department is a stroke receiving center for the county and provides rapid diagnosis and treatment. The Stroke System is a coordinated 911 emergency response, linking patients to trained emergency medical providers who identify stroke victims and rapidly transport them to designated stroke-certified hospitals within the critical four-hour treatment window. This teamwork is known to significantly reduce brain damage and save lives.

The Emergency Department also has a “Consent to Treat Minor” form, which gives caregivers and other adults who supervise your child permission to agree to necessary medical treatment. When you are not available, that gives your children the immediate care they need. For more information, call (925) 275-8280.
