DAISY Award & BEE Award Nomination Form
What is The DAISY Award?
The DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses is a special program that recognizes the incredible work that nurses display on a daily basis, and recognizes those who go above and beyond for their patients and families.
An acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem, The DAISY Foundation was formed in November 1999, by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP). After Patrick died, his family created The DAISY Foundation and The DAISY Award after witnessing firsthand the amazing care provided by his nurses: “They truly helped us through the darkest hours of our lives, with soft voices of hope and strong loving hugs that to this day, we still feel.”
DAISY proudly honors nurses wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve, and throughout their careers. Nurses can be nominated by anyone in their organization – patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, clinicians and staff – anyone who experiences or observes extraordinary care being provided by a nurse.
There are currently more than 5,000 healthcare facilities and nursing schools in all 50 states and 31 other countries and territories that honor nurses with The DAISY Award.
What is The BEE Award?
The BEE (Being Extraordinary Everyday) Awards are an extension of The DAISY Award. The BEE Award was created to honor and recognize deserving San Ramon Regional Medical Center employees (other than nurses) who provide outstanding assistance to their fellow employees and support excellent care for patients.
The BEE Award is a recognition program that honors and celebrates the compassion, kindness and support our non-nursing team members provide every day. Just like the DAISY Award, nominations can be submitted by patients, families and colleagues.
