Spotlight on Robotic-Assisted Spine Surgery at SRRMC

Sep 3, 2020

San Ramon Regional Medical Center continues to be a leader in the field of robotics and became the first hospital in the Bay Area to purchase the ExcelsiusGPS® system earlier this year to offer robotic-assisted spine surgery. This technology is designed to improve safety and accuracy of spine surgical procedures within the operating room.

Other patient benefits may include shorter hospital stays, less tissue damage, reduced trauma to the body and less risk of infection.

“Robotic-assisted spine surgery is a game changer for both the surgeon and the patient,” said Dr. Robert Rovner, Board Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeon, who was the first surgeon to use the system at SRRMC. “With this technology, we are able to see and do more along the spine than ever before. Patients undergoing spine surgery can have a whole new level of safety and peace of mind with their procedure.”

Drs. Robert Rovner and Vikram Talwar, Board Certified Orthopedic Spine Surgeons, both perform surgeries on the system at SRRMC.
