San Ramon Regional Medical Center Names Employee of the Year
Feb 23, 2021San Ramon Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that Sumy Mathews has been named Employee of the Year for 2020.
Sumy is a registered nurse on the Definitive Observation Unit and has been employed at the hospital for nearly nine years.
“Sumy represents the best of who we are as an organization. She’s always smiling, even in the toughest of situations,” said Ann Lucena, CEO of San Ramon Regional Medical Center. “Sumy volunteers for challenging assignments and has earned the respect of her colleagues because of her skills, experience and compassion. We are truly lucky to have her on our team.”
Sumy is described by her colleagues as someone who brings a positive, can-do attitude every day to work. She has a calming presence, and truly cares for her patients. The word most commonly used to describe Sumy is kind.
“I can’t imagine a more deserving candidate for this award,” said Aimee Campos, Director of Inpatient Services at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. “She lights up everyone around her. She makes us all better nurses and her patients are so blessed to have her taking care of them.”
“Sumy is a wonderful and beautiful person, inside and out. She’s very dedicated to her job. She’s very compassionate and empathetic. She’s a patient advocate. I could go on and on about her,” said Nicole Martindill, Nursing Supervisor.
San Ramon Regional Medical Center recognizes Pillars of Excellence every month throughout the year. The Employee of the Year is then chosen from that group of Pillars. Sumy was the March Pillars of Excellence Winner.
