Caring for Our Community during COVID-19

May 1, 2020

At San Ramon Regional Medical Center, it is our privilege to serve our community and provide excellent, high-quality care for our patients. The heart of what we do centers on caring with compassion and treating our patients like family. That means the safety and well-being of our patients are our top priorities. Our team of caregivers are passionate and dedicated to being there through every step of our patients’ health and recovery journey. It is with this dedication that we continue to take proactive measures to protect our patients, staff and community from the COVID-19 virus. The number of patients at San Ramon Regional Medical Center that have tested positive for the coronavirus has been low and manageable.

caring-for-our-community-during-covid-19“We are here for you, whenever you may need us,” said Ann Lucena, CEO of San Ramon Regional Medical Center. “We understand these are stressful and unprecedented times, but please know, when you come to our hospital, you will receive compassionate, high-quality care from our team who is ready to serve you.”

As with any communicable disease or virus, San Ramon Regional Medical Center has very strong infection control precautions in place to protect all individuals at our hospital every day. We continue to take heightened measures to protect our community from COVID-19 including implementing a very restricted visitor policy, limiting the number of hospital access points, adopting a universal masking policy and screening all individuals who enter our facility.

In addition, San Ramon Regional Medical Center is now offering drive-thru outpatient COVID-19 testing. Patients must have both a doctor's order and an appointment to get tested. Patients who have reason to believe they have COVID-19 or may have been exposed, should call their primary care physician first, who may then refer them to our hospital for testing.

We want our community to know we are here for you and can safely provide any needed care in our hospital and emergency department. There is not a need to delay emergent or urgent procedures, or medically necessary care. We are still caring for all patients who may come to us with healthcare needs not related to COVID-19. This includes broken bones, chest pain, heart attacks and strokes. We are open 24/7. Patients should feel comfortable coming to us for care and know we have the capacity for them.

“We are always focused on quality and patient satisfaction in our work,” said Joe Toscano, MD, Medical Director of Emergency Medicine at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. “Our culture has developed into one of caring, not only for our patients but each other. Teamwork is extremely important in all parts of healthcare but it’s absolutely indispensable in the emergency department where the demands are nonstop, varied and critical. If you need our services, you will be in great hands.”

Our clinical teams are continually monitoring information from federal, state and local public health agencies for the latest information on COVID-19. We are constantly reviewing infection prevention processes and we continue to update patient screenings and hospital protocols as recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Our community has shown an overwhelming amount of support for our caregivers at San Ramon Regional Medical Center. We can’t thank you enough for the countless acts of kindness during these challenging times. From the donated meals and desserts, to the endless words of encouragement and messages, we have been blown away by the generosity and support for our teams.

We wish you all the best on your path to continued health and if you need us for your healthcare needs, we are committed to assist you every step of the way. We are here for you and we are proud to be A Community Built on Care.
