Athletes in Sports Performance Institute at SRRMC Awarded Scholarships
Oct 1, 2019San Ramon, Calif. – The Sports Performance Institute (SPI) at San Ramon Regional Medical Center is helping local athletes achieve their potential and overcome sports injuries. Five students in the program were recently awarded golf scholarships:
- Jacob Solomon – Auburn University
- Ash Hakim – St. Mary’s
- Meredith Hirsch – Cal Poly
- Sara Rotter – Sonoma State
- Emily Rotter – Chico
The expert golf trainer at SPI, Tony Carrera, is certified by the Titleist Performance Institute and is a Nesta Personal Trainer. He has more than 20 years of experience in training and coaching youth and adult golfers. Carrera has trained PGA professionals and players on the Web.com Tour. He is a former fitness director at a local golf academy.
At SPI, Carrera evaluates each athlete for fitness and physical limitations and then safely designs a customized, scientific and medically-based training program for that individual.
SPI at San Ramon Regional Medical Center provides sports specific foundational training designed by experienced and certified strength and conditioning professionals, physical therapists and both medical and surgical sports medicine physicians. SPI sessions can be customized to fit any schedule and can accommodate individual athletes, groups or teams of all ages.
SPI provides comprehensive strength and conditioning, advanced plyometrics, resistance training, speed and agility drills, core strengthening, injury treatment and prevention.
